I’m a middle-aged father of two boys. My kids were involved in a stringed instrument program at school, and I was getting jealous. I’ve always had an attachment to cello, although I never thought I could play.

  1. How long have you been playing?

  2. Good to find another adult beginner cellist. I’ve been playing a little over a year and loving every moment. Best wishes on your journey!

  3. Found you via my blog and am excited to look read through yours as I’m a former cellist who’s dying to get back to it. Happy playing!

    • cello heaven (www.celloheaven.com) is another more casual place to talk with cello people, as we we have more amateurs than many similar sites. I suspect my blog may be too basic for you – but I always appreciate helpful comments.
When it comes to your kids, it’s hard to avoid letting one’s biases show. It was like that with us in searching for a neighborhood to live in.

    • Being in Paris, you may be very fortunate to have access to some great shops. Let the world know if you do decide to get back to it!

Beginner cellist, first lesson on my 49th birthday. Happily making screeching cat noises in Hobart, Tasmania – so far away from anywhere that no one can possibly complain. Love it.
