Although we’re going to continue to refine and enjoy the Chopin, it’s time to start a new piece.  It’s the Sarabande in the first Suite.  I also need to pick up the Minuet again and review it.   The E-major Kummer #77 is still on the agenda as well.  Today’s lesson focused on getting a good structure in thumb position; something that has been frustrating lately.  We did the the “D-major volcano” again.  That’s a 3 octave scale, then down to D entirely in thumb position, back up one octave, and then down the “normal” way.  There will be lots of that this week as I try to refine and keep my hand at the correct angle.  Right now, my fingernail is pointing straight down, which is bad.
