Today’s lesson was a bow hold lesson. It’s still not working for me. I’ve been practicing more this past week, but have to stop before i hurt my thumb too badly. But awareness is improving. Today we worked on short bows and focused on how the hand was doing after each bow was over. I’m locking my thumb, so I need to relax and trust my fingers. The more relaxed I can play, or so I’m told, the less likely I’ll have rhythmic inaccuracies.
I have to trust the cello to hold up my bow. Activate the fingers but otherwise keep them quiet and not overwork them.
In the Bach, we focused on the Bb-C-E-D sequence at the end of one of the phrases; getting the intonation right and my left hand used to it. That was the part that wasn’t working this week.
