I think this happens to many people, but what does one typically do? I’m still a ways from being able to afford a new bow. I’m sure there is some sort of bow first-aid I can do, but I don’t want to do anything that will encourage bad technique (excessive or unbalanced adhesive tape). Speaking of bad technique, does my bow tell a story of what I might be doing wrong?
In the meantime, I’m trying to take some pressure off my thumb, and re-doing the first two measures of the Bach Gavotte in C Minor paying attention to how my fingers feel at each point in the bow arc.
I’m finally going be posting more music and sound in 2011. It’s taken a while for me to have the guts to do this.
