Emily Wright of Stark Raving Cello fame gave me a couple of pointers (in exchange for some pointers on Bayesian Statistics[*]. First, she told me to watch the contact point and not watch my hand move around. That’s where the note is. Just doing this has helped my tone so much since I returned home. Second, don’t hesitate when drawing the bow. I discussed this a bit on earlier posts in regard to “prepare the group, then go”. We also fixed some of my RH fingers so that I could torque the bow better. However, my pinky is still on probation, apparently. Finally, I just got some feedback on drawing a straight bow.
We had a chance to do a little housework on the Bach Gavotte.
[*] a major sacrifice for a Frequentist, although I have covered the topic fairly thoroughly in actuarial exam #4.
