Although I put a great deal of work into Kummer #58, we’re putting it aside for now even though I’m a long way from where I want to be with it. At today’s lesson, we focused on intonation in the G major scale and increasing my comfort factor in fourth position. Although we’re not done, Dan does not want me to be stuck on this piece forever.
We also talked about keeping the notes and phrases connected in a way that sounds natural to the listener. This is very hard for me, but we’ve planted a seed.
But in the end, I couldn’t get my bow moving. I’m over thinking my left hand. I think on the next piece I’m going to practicing the bowing and the gestures first, and then fill in the left hand.
Does this sound like a good plan?
Next up is more Bach Gavotte in C minor (Emily?) and Kummer #59.
