Tonight was exclusively the B-flat major scale in Emily-Wright-Inspired glacial mode. I was trying to get some muscle memory on this one as well as figure out what is happening with my back, especially as I get to fourth position. Going that slowly helped me track the tension from my lower right back to upper left back. There is more happening than I was really able to focus on, so I am going to do this exercise again.
There were two sets of alternate fingerings that I was using; the goal was to make sure they sounded the same.
In the spirit of previous posts, I was continuing to just use my cello time for unwinding and enjoyment. I’m still serious – I’m not saying slack or sloppy. More like relaxing, breathing, and enjoying the sound.
