After that practice, I had a long talk with Emily at Stark Raving Cello via Google Wave. The gift that came from that was a suggestion to walk through the piece at glacial pace, pizzicato, paying micro attention to the body and mechanical issues..

I must say this exercise is incredibly challenging. This is good, because I didn’t take up cello because I thought it was easy. It is a deep tool for players, and I will be using it often. I used it tonight for about a half hour and it did help my mechanics a bit. Still, I found myself impatient to get back to tempo.

I also did it for my new exercise, Kummer #34, which is in C#-minor. Thus I have D# and some half position issues to work through as well as the next section of the Boccherini Minuet from Suzuki #3.
