We talked a bit about bowing at my last lesson. On each string, he urged me to know how to find the point on the bow where it is practically “no work at all” to play. This is where I want to be for fast passages. I may sometimes wish to be on other places on the bow, but I still need to know where this place is. There will be more attention to shaping and bowing this year.
In other news, we started working on a new piece; the first eight measures of the Boccherini Minuet.
