Today’s practice consisted of A major scale, both at a slower, then doubles, then double tempo. The Kummer piece I am working on is in A major, and has lots of position shifts. At various points I am in high 3d position, half position, 2d position, and extended 1st position (if it’s correct to say that). By that I mean 2 is on B, 4 on C# on the G string.
It took me a while to accept that I am to be in half position on a major scale, since that’s a position I usually assocate with the scales F,Bb or Eb major.
Mostly focusing on that. Also I am to continue playing the Gossec Gavotte with an ear towards melody, shaping, and anticipation. A tall order since I can’t get those two back to back slurs of 16th notes quite right yet.
